Lush Ultra Bland – a review

Lush Ultrabland clenser

I just love this now, but it took me a while to get the hang of it though because this was the first balm cleanser I’d ever used and I had no clue that you are supposed to take this off with a flannel and tried very hard to remove it just with water (doesn’t emulsify whatsoever) and was left with a thick residue on my face that was not pretty either – stupid me! And then I was especially angry at it for not removing my waterproof mascara BUT once I discovered the perfect Balm for that (Clinique take the day off) Ultrabland and I became very good friends…

So this is how the magic happens:

After removing my make-up with a balm/cream cleanser in the evening, I take a bit of cleanser on my fingers – which looks just like Butter in my opinion and massage it all over my face in all it’s greasy, melting goodness. Then soak a flannel in warm (nearly hot) water, wring it, put it on my face take a deep breath and gently rub it off. After that continue with toner, serum, moisturizer as usual.

This leaves my skin sooooo soft, I can’t even.

No sticky film on the skin, nearly no scent, no harshness – I would recommend this to anyone even more since it is not overwhelmingly expensive (the little pot costing 10,35€/45ml) especially if you have really dry skin, this has saved me this week when I had a bad cold and my skin was dry to no end it just gave my skin the “food” it needed I think.

I keep the big pot in my fridge because I don’t what it to go off and have a small one in the bathroom. I’ve been using ultra bland for over 3 years now always coming back to it when my skin gets angry with dryness or even spots – just calms down everything. Depending on how dry your skin is you could probably use it in the morning, too but I use it more in the evening as it is a proper greasy balm and throughout the day I don’t want no shiny face.

So which balm cleanser is your favorite? I’d love to know which ones you’ve tried! And also let me know if you have tried other skincare from lush – I’m currently trying he Tee Tree Water and liking it so far!
