The Smudgeproof mascara

beauty, cruelty free

I have been on the hunt for a new mascara since using cruelty-free products because I would no longer buy L’oreal or Maybelline. I often wear contacts so mascara for me needs to be completely  smudge free and fast drying which most waterproof ones failed quite terribly but the NYX more to love (which is technically not even waterproof) has stood out so much that I have been using it ever since.

Hydrating Serums: Hylamide & Hydraluron

beauty, cruelty free

Hylamide HA low molecular serum

First off – does anybody else wonder why magenta seems to be the color of hydration? anyone in marketing who may know?

What they are: hydrating serums with hyaluronic acid both a clear gel and cruelty free (yay!)
How I use them: apply a pea size amount on to slighty damp (not wet) skin after cleansing, or acid tone in the morning. Then use spray, moisturizer and/or oil, SPF as usual. You always want to put a watery product on top so he hyaluronic acid can then absorb this moisture to keep your skin plump and hydrated troughout the day.
They also work great put on before any moisturizing mask (like Origins drink up or Bodyshop’s vitamin e).

Must read / Eligible by Curtis Sittenfield a Modern Pride and Prejudice

Who ever loves Pride and Prejudice and appreciates a good fan fiction or sequel will just love this book. The base of the story is that of Elizabeth and Darcy but it is retold in the setting of modern day america – which to be honest put me off a first because they are British, aren’t they? But never mind that, it’s going to be good!

Here is a little recap of where we start of: Elizabeth and Jane Bennet are both in their late 30s living in NYC when their father back at home in Cincinnati suffers from a heart attack that causes them to (temporarily) move in with their parents again to help. At the same time Mr. Bingley who is a doctor (and harvard graduate) moves to Cincinnati for a job at the hospital joining his friend Darcy there, who is a snobbish neuro-surgeon. Having been some two years prior on a bachelor-esc type of dating show Bingley is widely known around – his wealth as well as his wanting to find true love…

Summer Bronze: The Bodyshop Drops of Sun

I am so excited about these – I have been on the hunt for a cruelty-free cream/liquid bronzer that didn’t cost a fortune for the last two summers, thanks bodyshop!

So let’s get into it: I bought them on thursday when I saw the bodyshops instagram and am now (sunday) completly obsessed! The Drops look pretty scary at first because it’s just black liquid but as you can see in the pictures below they blend in very beautifully.

my Top 3: face SPF for summer

beauty, sunscreen

I first posted this a couple of months ago, but with the summer finally coming along these need some mentioning again!

I know I am pretty late with this as summer is quite over but I have just recently found the best sun protection for my face and wanted to share this because every face-SPF I see claims the be instantly sinking in and totally undetectable on the skin which at least for me is not the case – so here are three in Comparison:

Review: Bodyshop Vitamin E Moisture Mask

If you have dry, dehydrated or just tired looking skin this is one to try.
It comes in a big pot (100ml that will last forever) has a jelly consistency, smells slightly like nivea cream and is a non-fancy getting the job done product.

I use it at night after cleansing & hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid eg. hylamide HA booster or hydraluron to really get all the moisture soaked up in my skin.
If you do have any sensitive areas on your face for example I have perioral dermatitis – skip those and dab some face-oil on instead because there is alcohol in this mask and no one wants to irritate your sensitive skin even more – this applies to exfoliating acids also.

Exfoliating Toner with Glycolic acid

Glycolatic + Liquid Gold

Glycolic Acid Toner & Liquid Gold

Don’t be scared, because these can change your skin completely! I started using Toners and masks with glycolic, salicylic and lactic acid about a year ago and although you can use them every day or every other day they come in best when your skin is crazy because of stress, hormones, lack of sleep etc.

Hate body lotion? Weleda Wild Rose Oil is for you!

bodycare, cruelty free

Weleda Wildrosenöl

As someone who firmly dislikes body lotion and body butter almost as much using oil never occurred to me because obviously this would take even longer to sink in an ain’t nobody got time for that. I bought this because I was seeking for some oil that was actually not just silicone for my hair – and since this is a cruelty free and an organic blend of Jojoba, Sweet Almond and Rosehip oil it ticked all the boxes. A few weeks back it was really f*ing could in Hamburg and my legs were so dry & itchy which is always nice that I thought the oily the better and right I was!

The Bodyshop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil – a review

bodyshop camomile silky cleansing oil

Since this is practically empty and I am about to repurchase, I thought I’d give you a quick review. This is a really, really great cleanser it does a very good and gentle job at taking make-up, even mascara off – as good as Cliniques take the day off balm (but it takes a little bit more time for full on waterproof many coats on the lashes).
